Israel in general is a very safe country to visit.
With a low crime rate and as one of the countries with the lowest rate of COVID-19 cases, Israel is a haven for travelers, (and Jews, but that is a whole different story).
Is Israel at war now?
as for August and summer 2021- it looks like Israelis and tourists are expecting a calm and got summer, as there are no rockets (nor tension) between Israel and the Gaza strip or the West Bank.
As for the May tension the Ramadan holiday could be blamed for, as for every single year during the month of Ramadan, there is tension between Israelis and Palestinians due to the Palestinians’ violent riots.
And even though 3 rockets were fired from Lebanon to Israel it looks like it was a one-time scenario.
So it is Ok to travel to Israel?
Absolutely, as long as you are vaccinated it is safe to travel to Israel.
As the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is recommending to avoid certain areas in Israel (especially in Judea and Samaria) there is no restriction of traveling to Israel. But those are not the areas and the places in which travelers and tourists seem to visit often.
The US State Department has no restriction or warning of traveling to Israel either. Yet it does advise American citizens to be cautious of “the continuing risks of travel to Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza due to the security situation and heightened tensions there, and warns against travel to Gaza.” This is the same warning Israel gives to tourists and areas in Judea and Samaria that are under Palestinian control are usually not as safe to tourists, especially American ones.
So Yalla C’mon, this year in Jerusalem!
